Every pick here has to beat the cheaper option and the pricier option at the same job. If it doesn't, it doesn't make the list.

We got tired of "best of" lists that recommend whatever has the biggest affiliate payout. Half of them have never touched the product.

Our filter is boring but it works: does this thing do the job better than the cheaper option, and nearly as well as the expensive one? If not, it's out. Durability counts more than features.

Most of what we cover lives in a kitchen drawer, a garage shelf or the back patio. Normal stuff that you'll use for years if you buy right.
